Video Windows 10 problem

Hello Forum,

Video won't work for me in Ableton Live. After installing many codec packs and rebooting, uninstalling, switching to integrated Graphic and more. The video in Ableton plays one second, freeze and then stays black. Any way to resolve this other than Live suggested steps?

I'm running on a Razer Blade 2021 laptop.

Thanks!

I found the main problem. I add a second monitor in HDMI. This cause the video malfunction in Ableton.

So now, I need to find a fix for to work with a second monitor... haha.

Anyone?

Which Live version are you using?
Does this help?

Hello, every time I try to edit video with a second external monitor in HDMI it crashes Ableton. I installed all the required codecs suggested and made the proper steps to make it work.

So you mean that it's alright when you're using only your laptop's screen?

Maybe you should check if your graphics card drivers are up-to-date. If it doesn't help you could ask support@ableton.com

Thanks for the reply!
Ableton support can't really help for now. I think my laptop graphic card is up to date. Not sure what is the problem. I'll wait for an Live 11 update I guess.

Unfortunately Live 11 is even worse with video. Live simply doesn't work with video - at least not on Windows.

I wouldn't expect that Live is a perfect video editor.

Maybe Davinci Resolve is an alternative:

But be aware: It's powerful but complex and has heavy HW requirements.

I think there is a misunderstanding: nobody is asking Live to be Premiere or Resolve, just to be able to PLAY a video file (like Cubase, Studio One, Reaper or any other DAW can do).

Currently a lot of us (at least on PC) are unable to play a simple Mp4 file without having Live crash instantly, even following Ableton recommandations in terms of codecs, and despite the program officially supports Video playback.

Exactly, Live should work with basics video Format like other DAWs.

It is probably because you are still forcing integrated Graphics, while the 2nd screen probably needs the discreet GPU.
