Automation - need to set "Mixer - Track Volume" as default

Hi everyone. Is there any way to set it up so that when you click the automation mode to "on" in the arrangement view, the little drop-down menus in the audio tracks would default to "Mixer" and "Track Volume"?
I find it a constant annoyance that whenever automation mode is engaged, these mini-menus always default to something else (like "None") or if you do click on Mixer, it always defaults to "Speaker On" (which I rarely use) instead of "Track Volume". Furthermore, it always seems to change back to "Speaker On" as I click from one track to another, even after having set it the way I want. I've looked in preferences but there doesn't seem to be any way to change these defaults, unless I'm wrong.
I tried "Save as Default Audio Track" with the desired drop down menu choices selected but that doesn't work either. Any insights would be appreciated. Thanks!
