Automatic value changes during loading Komplete Kontrol Instruments like Session Guitarist in case of Sample Rate >44.1

Hello All,

I encountered the following strange behaviour:

When Ableton Live 10 Suite 10.1.35 (or 11 Demo) is set to a sample rate higher than 44.1 khz (so as from 48 khz) and Native Instrument's Komplete Kontrol is loaded with certain instruments (any Session Guitarist, Yanquin, ...? (Noire? - according to another user)), some parameters are automatcially changed when either loading the preset or when loading the Live project.

see examples here: https://www.native-instruments.com/foru ... pg.110461/
(the automatically changed values are marked by the red boxes, e.g. Electric Vintage is set to Volume zero so it cannot be heard anymore; Strummed Accoustic is put completely to the leftside output, Yangquin's Decay is set to zero - just examples, others (but not all!) paramerters are automatically changed as well).

The issue occurs independently from the "high quality" button (on/off) in the Live settings.

I recognized this behaviour when first loading a project that used the Electric Vintage Session Guitarist and did not hear the guitars after loading the project.

You could think it is an NI issue but in other DAWs (Cubase LE 11, Reaper) and KK Standalone this phenomenon does NOT happen, so it seems to be at least somehow related to Live. Also the fact that the current value of the sample rate set up in the Live preferences trigger the behaviour spots that it might be Live issue.

However I reported it first in the NI forum when I didn't found out yet that the sample rate was the issue; it can be followed here:
https://www.native-instruments.com/foru ... ts.455711/

Maybe somebody has an idea how to get around this (in case I want to use >44.1 khz as with that value it works fine, so I have a workaround).

The issue does NOT appear when using e.g. the Session Guitarist directly in the Kontakt VST within Live (but then you cannot benefit from the KK hardware). I also don't see this issue in any other Komplete Kontrol instrument yet (neither NI from KK12, neither 'User').

Setup (main PC):
Windows 10 20H2
AMD Ryzen 7 5800X, 32 GB RAM
Behringer UMC204HD 192k v1.12 with UMC Asio Driver (version 4.38.0)
Gigabyte GeForce RTX 2080 8 GB
Alternatively Realtek onboard sound of Asus Rog-Strix x570-E, same issue
External Midi hardware: Midi Keyboard; NI KK 88S, NI Mikro Maschine MK3 - but the issue also appeared with all of them disconnected

Please let me know if other/further hard/software information is required/helpful to find a possible solution.

But I also tested it on the older PC with i7 4770k, 24GB RAM and Realtek onboard sound of ASUS Z87-Pro an no external hardware (apart from keyboard, mouse and screen) connected.

Any help or remark (also if you face the same issue or if you know that it happens with other 3rd party plugins in Live or other instruments in KK) is appreciated.

It sounds like it's worth a report to [email protected]

Hello [jur],

Thanks for the advise. I opened a ticket through [email protected].

I also crated a ticket on NI side as I cannot state from which side the error is caused (or whether it is a combination).
I will update both threads in case of a solution.

SOLVED :-)

It looks like the error was solved with the Kontakt update to v 6.6.0
I checked on two computers and the error did not come up anymore - it was possible to load an Ableton Project with affected intruments while being on 48 khz and higher.

There is a new warning message as well when changig the sample rate, saying "please close and re-start Kontakt after a sample rate change"

I will inform the Ableton team to close the ticket.
