Recording in early/ahead of time

Hi,
When i record my drum machines in they are actually recording BEFORE the beat, kinda like the opposite of latency.
Anyone know why that is and how to fix this so it records in time?
Thanks

How do you sync Live to your drum machine? Is delay compensation on? Is there any offset in your drum machine settings?
Also:
What Live version, what drum machine and what OS?

Sync by usb
Tr08 - it’s the same for all synths though
Delay comp on
The offset changes, usually a bit, sometimes 7 ms or -7ms - sometimes more sometimes less
Live 10 latest v
Mac 11.4
Thanks

Are you on a new M1 Mac? As Ableton is not native on them, it could cause problems.......
By USB, it is MIDI over USB?
Strange that it is not a fixed value of offset, but that it fluctuates. So if it happens to all your synths, it must be an Ableton thing - have you tried it with Logic (If you own that)? Or any other DAW for that matter?
If I'm having some time I will try it in my studio, I use Live 10 suite on a Win 10 PC, but as I never do it anymore to record external stuff most of the time, I do not know what is going on on my system........

OK, I have it too on my system.
I think it is about the same as my roundtrip latency which is almost 8ms @ 64 samples - but it is there, and you notice it well. It is annoying.
Specs from my system:
Intel i7-7700 quadcore CPU
16 Gb ram
NVMe drive for system and data
Live 10, latest version - Suite
Focusrite Scarlet 18i20 audio interface
ESI M4Ex MIDI interface
Synth tested on: kickdrum patch from an old but trusty Korg N1, used the external instrument - routed that to an audiochannel and recorded a four to the floor straight beat, did it a few times - latency was consistent thru all recordings. Will try it with Reason 11 suite, and see what that does.......

Reason does exactly the same, around 8 ms of latency in the recording of a four to the floor beat. I think it has to do with the audio interface, how fast it can work, and how well it's chipset is.
Strange though, I am going to look deeper into this, to find out what is going on.
In the meantime keep us posted if you discover yourself what is going on!
Greetzzz!!!!

I think the issue you are facing is your Delay Compensation setting is on when you may not need it on. Turn that setting off and use Reduced Latency when monitoring. Curious to see if that worked for you. Good luck! -GM

I second that theory.

Hi,
I just had this issue and yes, turning off Delay Compensation fixed it. Thanks.
