When will Live be M1 ready ?

I mostly use U-he synths and effects, all of them are M1 ready. Many other Daw and plug-ins are M1 ready. So any ideas about when Live will be compatible with this new M1 (Nov 2020) ?

many of us would like the answer to this question I think. It's also probably tied to max/msp native M1 port

Ableton never comments on unreleased features or release dates ahead of time. Too many things can happen to impact that, so it doesn’t make sense to provide a date that might slip. M1 support is obviously a high priority though and is being worked on as we speak.

well that's more info than we've had in six months; so that's at least good to know.

Ableton will get M1 support when NI port all their plug ins.

OK OK it's probably not that bad, but the main thing to do when trying to guess how long a port might take is to look at all the other companies involved. IMO Live will take a while, since Max is part of it, and that's a huge library of possible issues with a port. Pretty much all of it got a GUI makeover in the last 5 years so that's a huge advantage over NI and other companies that are using deprecated code.

I don't see it working until Max has gone native also. As for plugin support; I suspect it will also be limited to native M1 plug-ins (maybe there could be a third party wrapper I don't know)

Is this how it works with other M1 native DAWs like Logic? I’m pretty sure that if done properly, it still translates non-native plugins properly.

Max already has a native M1 arm64 beta (since Aug 19 2021).

Note it is a minor .2 update, hinting Live's will probably be also a .x update.

I think Ableton Live is the only DAW left who is not M1 ready.

off the op of my head:

M1 ready DAWs as of 9-12-21:
FL Studio, Logic, Bitwig, Digital Performer, Reaper,

No ready yet: Cubase, Pro Tools, Reason, Live, Studio One (official Rosetta 2 support though)

So Live isn't last in line, but looking at the list the only surprising thing is DP being ready, but they spent serious energy getting their GUI resizable recently. The GUI is 100% the hardest part of any port, so the older the GUI code the more likely the port will take serious time. Cubase, Pro Tools and Reason probably have ancient graphics libraries much like Native Instruments.

Max has in the last ten years completely revamped it's GUI so it makes sense it would be ready. Hopefully Live isn't using any old libraries etc. and it gets ported soon.
