Problem with shift + up/down shortcuts while midi editing

I bought a new laptop (asus zephyer dual screen) and when im looking at the midi notes and try to shift the octave up or down with shift + up / down it doesnt move the notes it just scrolls up or down the display grid of the notes. Any idea why?
