I wish to use and record a preset drumbeat from Limelight in a Live 5.0 ensemble...how is this done?

I've tried Limelight as both instrument plugin and FX plugin on a midi track. I can't seem to record the drumbeat preset by hitting record button on clip during session view. Tried hitting record on toolbar in arrangement view also, and this does not work.

It appears that Live is looking for a MIDI input, e.g. when I hit key on Kontrol 49, it records the MIDI note.

Also, when I play a scene in session view, Limelight automatically runs preset beat even though there is no session clip in the scene with Limelight. Why is that?

Please help!

if you're trying to resample the AUDIO output you'll need to record that to an AUDIO track. even if you're using limelight as an fx plugin, you can't resample into the track it's coming from. you'll need to route the audio to a different AUDIO track and resample into a clip there. the manual should explain how to do this more clearly.

Got it! Changed routing, and it works. Thanks Clearscreen...I guess the output of limelight sequenced data is audio instead of midi. Makes sense now.

Although, it would be nice to transfer Limelight sequenced MIDI data direct to Live MIDI data so that ALL final MIDI editing is done in Live.

Interestingly enough, the Limelight FX plugin works in either audio OR midi track. As long as data is routed to an audio track, sample recording works!

SWEET!

theres two types of vst, vsti (instrument) and vst fx. reaktor (and limelight) can run in either situation, which can be pretty handy...
you should be able to capture the midi data from limelight (if it sends midi - not all NI reaktor based stuff does. i don't have Limelight, so can't tell you..) into a midi clip using midi routing into a midi track. once again, the manual should blear that up.
not sure you need to though, because as long as you save your snaps in limelight the sequences should be saved into the plugin, and reopen whenever you reopen the live set.
for more variation try setting midi clips with envelopes assigned to contols in limelight and use patch changes to switch snaps on the fly (if you've got enough CPU).

Just tested Limelight FX plugin...MIDI routing is not possible, only audio. See screen grab below.

Thanks for tips, they've been very helpful. Haven't played around yet with MIDI on limelight, but i'll try as you suggest! Do you get pops when you switch snaps on the fly?

oops...looks like post won't take screen grabs. The 'Audio To' options on limelight track only allow the following: Ext Out, Master, (track)- Audio, Sends only
