Which chords go with Major7th chords?

I just discovered that i love maj7 quite a lot (LOL!)but cant figure out which chords go as base notes with them (on piano!!! <3)

Im playing piano.. like a Cmaj7,Cj7 or Emaj7 aaaand Abj7(G#j7)

Anything basically as a Maj7th is one of the most common chords outside of basic triads. It depends on genre.

Minor 7ths, Dominant 7ths, and half diminished 7th chords all belong to the Major scale so they are all fair game but if you get into stuff like Jazz, Gospel, just about anything. It's all in the art of chord choice, adding consonance, dissonance etc.
