need help setting my keyboard up with ableton 11 lite

Recently purchased an Akai mpk mini 3 and so far its working great and my issue is, the knobs on my keyboard arent doing anything on ableton BUT when i press random keys on my midi keyboard i hear noise so i know atleast ableton detects the keyboard. Now when assign each key to a clip slot i cant play any of them and get no audio at all. clearly im doing something wrong but when i add drums to the drumrack it works perfectly.

MIDI used in MIDI Assign (or Remote Scripts) can't be used to play instruments anymore (that MIDI data is not sent to the Tracks anymore).

MIDI keys that become part of remote control assignments can no longer be used as input for MIDI tracks. This is a common cause of confusion that can be easily resolved by observing the Control Bar’s MIDI indicators (see 15.3.4).
