I want to play a percussion part into an empty midi clip for subsequent immediate looping in a performance setting. I'd rather not use the looper effect to do this. Is there a way that leaves the material with its swung rhythm? I see this question has been asked before but have found new recent responses and am wondering if there is new information.

Have you done this? Looped with a midi instrument into an un-quantized clip and maintained a swing? I must have some setting wrong because it still "straightens out" the material. (I also wouldn't mind having a 2 bar quantization in place because I'm not that good at hitting a launch control pad on the way out of the measures.)

I have not solved this using the previously posted response. Looking for more input. I want to play into empty midi clips for subsequent looping in a performance setting. I want to maintain the swing of the material. The purpose it to have the whole performance produced on the spot. It's why I embarked on using this product called "Live." Any ideas for me?

are you using a 1/16th record-quantisation setting? that will 'straighten out' any swing you play.
try it at '16th note triplet quantisation' instead. might be better for you.

...when i record midi into a slot with quantisation set to "off" i was under the impression that this results in a unquantized recording...the notes have a relation to a beat (1/16 or so) but i can clearly see an offset value that i'm also able to change with my push...

Thanks, all. Solved. I was focused on the Quantization options on the top of the screen but should have turned the RECORD Quantization setting (in the edit pulldown) to "none."
