Select multiple clips
Select multiple clips
Let's say I have 10 clips in one track in the arrangement window and I want to select clips 1, 4 and 8. Currently I see no way to do this, and it would be helpful to press let's say alt and ctrl or something to select them. Shift only selects all clips from x to 1 to 8.
Re: Select multiple clips
It is a 15 years old feature request
Re: Select multiple clips
arrrgh... not this again. Why put up a feature wishlist forum then?
I mean it must be like a 2 minute job implementing this.
Come on ableton, at least explain why this doesn't go quicker.
I'd even be willing to give the person a nice tip who makes this happen... ...anybody?

Re: Select multiple clips
If its a 2 minute job, then do please show the devs, how you would do it, time starts NOW. Tick tick tick
Live 11, M1 Mac Mini, Push 2, Scarlett 18i20 & ADA8200, Softube Console 1 Mk2, Deepmind12, Hydrasynth, Cobalt 8M, Moog Subsequent 25, IK Uno Synth Pro, Plethora X3, Nord Drum 3P
Re: Select multiple clips
Read it too late... Can you count down again?
I mean sorry for being so pushy, but it obviously is a useful feature with no downside.

Re: Select multiple clips
Multi, non-contiguous select kind of goes against Live's basic MO, which is selecting large blocks for movement during performances.
Maybe it's finger position thing. I've seen guys dance around the computer keyboard with Live with impressive speed.
That said, I would much prefer shift select areas and ctrl/cmd select non-contiguous clips for operations. That's the way nearly all programs work, so I can't see how it would really disturb performers. But I'm willing to admit that there might be some logic to it that works for someone else's usage scenario. I would like to know what it is though.
That's one of things I don't quite understand about Ableton's nearly complete lack of communications with its users. We don't really know why they do some things and not others. Leads to a lot of speculation and misunderstanding.

Re: Select multiple clips
maybe its time to split Live to 2 versions:
Ableton Live = for performing live people
Ableton Studio = arrangement focused on steroids with all the juicy features that all other DAWs already has...
more legible ui (one not so great example: those triangle channel faders, gray color on gray background...)
dockable/moveable windows/panels
mixer that looks like a mixer
inspector view
... I have a ton more but you get the idea
