I just timed how long it took to open a project and it took 1m47s.

It's not even a big project yet. Only 12 tracks, mostly just audio samples at the moment. 1 instance of Captain Beat for Drums, Spire VST for a bassline and a Sampler with a rave stab. Only a few minutes long.

Opening a blank instance only takes about 5 seconds. Opening this project once the blank is open still causes the problem. Any idea what could be causing such long loading times ?

Using Mid 2015 MBP 2.3ghz Quad 16GB Ram. Updated Ableton to 11.1.5 but problem still persists. Recently updated Mac OS to Monterey, could this have something to do with it ?

That's not based on real technical proofs, but in my experience with ageing machines it's better to stay on the oldest (meaning "supporte by Live") OS possible.

It does feel like that yes. Might try starting with a blank project and see if the problem persists.

Think I've found the culprit. Captain Beat. Just opening this plugin in an empty project takes over a minute.

Looks like it's not playing nice with Monterey as this wasn't happening before. I'll get on to the Dev.

Had similar issues a while back and found that consolodating everything ‘Ableton related’ to a central place on my hard drive helped. Less work for Live to do when searching for files, samples, etc.

A little tidbit for next time - something that has helped me diagnose if a plugin causing the issue before is to hold ALT/Option while Live is launching.
This will disable Live's initial plug-in scanning while booting up. If Live manages to launch (especially if it launches quickly) while plug-ins are disabled then this would indicate a bad plugin. Has worked really well for me after crashes especially.

Turns out Sophos Home anti virus was causing the problem. The Dev suggested disabling any AV software which immediately fixed the problem.
