Crazy 11.1.5 issues scanning plugins

hey all,
After installing Live 11.1.5, my plugin scanning on my win 10 machine in ableton became very erratic.
1) When starting Live, it does it's automatic scanning as usual.
2) Except now, the interface is laggy and when going to the plugin section in prefs, there's a spinning ball next to "Rescan".
3) Nothing shows on notification bar, but interface is laggy until about 5-10 minutes after starting Ableton, when scanning finally shows on the taskbar.
4) Then it never finishes scanning. There's a message on the task bar that it's scanning plugins.
5) This stays in ableton as it never finishes scanning, this will stay on the live notifcation bar without changing for an entire session (I've never yet seen it finish).
So I trashed the preferences, deleted the live database file, and did a full rescan of plugins. While the initial scan finished, it's now behaving as above even with a fresh reset.
Win 10 - no machine changes, just the update of live to 11.1.5. I will have to revert but I hope Ableton is aware of this. This would be terrible if this bug starts carrying on to future versions.
Edit: other daws just fine, no issues.
