Samples from Hard Drive are not shown in "Places"

I'm running:
Mac OS Monterey 12.4
Ableton Live 10.1.42
Samsung T5 Hard Drive
My Problem is:
"Places" displays folders where samples are stored but not the actual sample files.
Example: I have the folder "Samples" stored in "Places". Through clicking on "Samples" it displays the folder "Drums" (which is stored inside the folder "Samples") but not the actual samples.
The samples are on my hard drive. When I pull them into a Clip via Finder they will show up and work as audio files in Ableton.
This problem does only appear with sample folders from my external hard drive. Not quite sure but it might be that this happens since I updated to the new Mac OS.

You’ll probably need to connect the hard drive and start Live then wait awhile for it to finish its indexing of the drive. Might take awhile depending on what kind of external drive it is and how many samples you have.

Hey, thanks for the quick reply!
Unfortunately this is not the issue. The Hard Drive ist constantly connected and the samples do not appear even after like an hour or so. Additionally if I click on a folder in "places" it only shows some of the subfolders within that main folder. Even though both folders are only filled with samples (wav files) - so no other kinds of file formats...

Check that those folders don't have any weird permissions.

Already did that, all good with the permissions.
Additionally if I open up old projects Ableton doesn't seem to find the samples (even though they exist within the project file). If I open up one of these older projects it says "this sample contains no audio data" & "some of the media files (such as samples) used by this set could not be loaded" and all simpler-midi instruments are empty.
Ableton does not provide the "search sample" feature... so i suppose it has to be smth else?

Does the files' names contain any "unusual" character?

Nope... All the samples used to work for the last years until just lately!

Last resort might be resetting its DB.
but save all you need before as described here:

Hi !
Did you ever find the fix? I think I'm experiencing the same problem.
All my sample files are stored in folders on my external hard drive but all of a sudden, whenever I load a project, I get a notification saying "Sample contains no audio data". With no way to use File Manager to replace the files.
Also, when I drag the original sample file from the external folder right into Ableton, it doesn't get loaded in as usual, instead nothing happens...
Sidenote, I have recently added about 80GB of samples to this hard drive, even though still far from full capacity.

Exactly same issue here.....it used to work now doesn't.....all files are there on my external. But abletons just shows the folders not the files.....it does show some but not all.....make no sense at all and very frustrating. There needs to be a fix for this!
Works fine on windows, is just Mac having the issue. And it did used to work on the Mac....no clue what changed
