Automation apparent across all scenes

Live has this great function that an effect can be kept normally off unless automated in some scenes. really cool but comes with downsides.
It would be good to know while in session mode if an effect which is off is not used throughout the scenes or its on/off status and other settings are automated.
Otherwise, with bigger projects, you are never 100% sure if it is safe to remove something deactivated, so you end up keeping useless stuff. If you then migrate to a new computer, you might install an effect just to find out it is kept off.
Two solutions:
1. my favourite: a special colour to mark parameter automation anywhere in the project.
2. once automated somewhere, default status automation to be written across all the scenes
Or am I missing some functionality?
