Prelisten not working

Let me start by saying I love this fucking program, and the people behind it, and how they monitor this forum even though they say they don't ;). Live is the most amazing piece of software I've ever used. Been using it almost 1 year now.

Unfortunately, I've been hit by a few bugs (oddly, only since the SQL Slammer hit my machine).

My problem is: prelisten doesn't work anymore. I have it "routed through master," but when I click on the sound files in the live browser, it doesn't play. And the clip info doesn't appear at the bottom the way it did before. By all appearances, Live doesn't realize I am clicking on the sound files.

When I drag them into the arranger, they play. When I turn on the headphone icon, the clips are audible. Why doesn't prelisten through the browser work?????

Thanks!

As far as I understand the headphone-button is actually turning on and off prelistening, so where is the problem with that?

To clarify:

On the left hand side of the arranger interface, there is a list of files (the file 'browser').

You can click on the files in the list, and have the clip play BEFORE you ever put it into the arrangement.

This functionality has stopped working for me.

Are you saying that it never worked for you? Or was I just being unclear?

Alex

I had a feeling it would be a simple feature like this.

1 year and I'm still discovering these little secrets and features of ableton.

Thanks again.
