Mapping previous locator button to Midi clip

I’m having an issue with mapping the midi clip to the previous locator button as described in a YouTube video. Buttons turn blue and I jumped back before clip to play. When cursor gets over midi clip nothing happens when I press the previous locator button. It doesn’t map.Help!
