impulse weirdness with loop in arrangement

strange thing happening here...
you can download a live set in which this happens here:
http://www.users.skynet.be/borg-technol ... seprob.als

if you get missing sound messages, just load the impulses 'Raver' preset. different timbre, same resulting problem.

i was just toying with impulse in L5. this is what happens:

i made a simple midi loop in session, nothing special.

however, i noticed on certain moments, impulse would cut off short some of the kicks on the first beat of the loop. after some investigation, i noticed this only happens when 'loop' is engaged for the arrangement. every time the position returns to the beginning of the arr loop point, the kick gets cut off. it's not that it doesn't get played, it just sounds short. (play clip 'not ok' in the set)

to thicken the plot: it only happens (in this particular case) when 'time' parameter of impulse is above 25%. the problem gets solved when i lower the 'time' value. but i don't want to do this! it changes the character of the sound i wanted.

even stranger: i added a note for another sound on the same position (1.1.1) and the problem was gone (play clips 'seems ok'). to make this new hit mute, i could turn down it's volume or use an envelepe, but that's not how it should be solved, not?

moving this new sound away from 1.1.1 makes the problem reappear.

now, if you turn off looping in arrangement, the problem is solved. but again, there are situations in which you need this functionality.

moving the session clip to the arranger doesn't help.
moving the 1.1.1 kick slightly off doesn't help.

i remember encountering the same behaviour in L4.

anyone care to check out this little live set? (ca 80K)

just opened another set i used for trying out operator...

same thing happens here, more or less:

a few clips in session view, three operators, loop on in arrangement (nothing in it, though, but still).

every time, the loop restarts (arrangement loop, not the clips), there's a little click/distortion. it seems a bit more inconsistent then the impulse problem described above (that one is 100% reoccuring every time).

here lowering the voice count on one of the operators does help. the maximum cpu% is only at 45% though, and bringing that patch down to 4 voices (6 before) brings it to 37%.
45% shouldn't give me crackles, not? and again, it is on the first beat of the arrangement loop bracket.

hate to do this, but BUMP!

no one wants to try the really small .als file and listen to the clips for a couple of bars?

i don't mean the song in my signature, but the file at top of the first post :) although it's totally ok to listen to the track too...

Hi borg,

my teammate Matthias will look at this problem. Currently he is recovering from a cold so just have a bit patience.

regards,
Alex

thanks for the interest, guys!

send the good man some jägermeister! me, i'm not so much in a hurry (currently transforming a BIG garage into a loft/project studio  , and it takes a loooot of time.)
still, would be nice to see this behaviour stopped asap.
great!

hi All,

unfortunately this behavior it is too critical to be fixed in an update and so I currently can't say if and when it will change.

all the best,
matthias

i can live with the "can't tell when", but the "can't tell if" doesn't sound too good...
playing with session clips while the arrangement is looping... damn.
ha well, let's hope you can still find a way.

carry on your good work matthias
