Note does not currently have midi input as a feature.

Many other apps do.

Incase you haven’t seen the other thread, it seems midi is being added. Latest update has it in settings but it isn’t working yet. So, it’s definitely in the works 😊

Is there one element or another that you do not have yet that you are considering for purchase?

iRig Keys should definitely work with Note for keyboard input.

On iOS music there can be some factors they make some keyboards more or less difficult to work with, but it depends on the methods you use to connect to your device. It sometimes also depends on if it’s an iPhone, iPad, lightning, or USB-C.

I’m pretty knowledgeable for setting these things up and the available products. So if you have any questions, feel free to ask.

Do you already have Note or iRig Keys? Both? Neither?

Well if you have both, you should be able to just give it a try for yourself.

I don’t have a Lot of experience with Note, but I use a lot of other apps and latency with a direct connection is not really perceptible for me. With Bluetooth it can be a little more obvious (plus occasional dropped notes). But a direct connection is fine.

It’s probably extra advantageous that Note doesn’t host plugins. So you won’t get a surprise latency from a 3rd party reverb or distortion plug-in or whatever.

I will say that it does feel a bit limited still. No mapping, no midi control of the clips, mixer or channel selection. That would be convenient.

First run-thru is sorta promising, in that iRig Keys device acted as an interface driving my headphones while sounding pretty nominal & non latent using the batteries(but silent with "usb" connect switch aka : whole thing not promising). Played one of the demo sets and jammed clumsy drum fingers my iPhone screen - which does not work for this key-trained musician; keys or pads ideal. At least there was something coming out of the thing.

However it's feeding no midi input to play LIVE using it's keys or it's thumpy pads, at least from from the midi cord's "lightning" connect. Zero - it's main function and I'll report back here if I discover some hidden door that allows it to MIDI into NOTE.
Almost threw the effing thing in the trash bin. Arghhh
Peace

Ouhhhh you have the I/o one with the interface built in? I recently bought that. The 49 key version. I had kind of expected you had the non-interface version.

Make sure in Note’s midi preferences that you do have the keyboard selected as a midi source.

I’m having mixed experiences with the Irig keys i-o. The battery reliance is frustrating. I’m hoping to get a new iPhone with USB-C so that I won’t need the batteries. Batteries are absolutely required for using Lightning. Also, the volume on the keyboard seems to occasionally fade out when I’m using batteries. Kind of frustrating.

Back to Note, I can try to double check my experience. Make sure you have the latest version of Note.

On the bottom Left, when you are choosing which SET to open, are three dots “ … “

Select that and you should find MIDI Input as an option.

Edit: just remembered that I wish we could midi map the ‘Capture’ button
