Is there a way for me to correct this malfunction easily? To re-iterate, when I open a new project, I am faced with a few audio samples that I had created before & not a blank set.

Create the default Live set you need, then save it as your default template.
You probably did it inadvertently, I don't think this is a "malfunction"
