Replicating 80s-Style Drums (Synthwave)

How do you go about replicating 80s-style drums? Lately, I’ve been experimenting with using the Dry Session kit; however, I’ve seen people use the 808 or 707 preset kits with glue compression, a low-pass filter, and gated reverb.
