CTRL E is split, BUT it only works in the arranger it seems. Bummer, I'd really like to use that in session view too

Re: I'm LOVIN' Live, but.........
I made a huge mistake by testing Bitwig.
I realized
- you can edit audio in the Clip-View (!)
- you can put as many audio-files as you want in ONE Clip (!)
- also you can actually see automation IN the Clip in Clipview
- just like you can actually see the content (waveform, midi) IN the Clip in Clipview
- and you see clip-playback-progress IN the Clip in Clipview.
So, huge mistake, i should refrain from watching DAWs which do things right, which Ableton doesn't.

I don't care "how" much more buttwig will do. It's nowhere near as intuitive. I'll stick with the limitations, thanks

Re: I'm LOVIN' Live, but.........
So an explanation:
After over a month of learning, appreciating and accepting Live into my life, I decided to give buttwig a go. Here's what happened:
-MESSY! It's nowhere near as elegant and straight forward as Live. Not even close. Just not even close to being straight forward.
-Simple things (or not): How da bleep are you supposed to use the "clip" sessions? I mean honestly, Live is so straight forward and does exactly what you want. Not buttwig. Clumsy at best.
-Plug ins: Errrr, what the BLEEP? Drag/drop is almost non existent in comparison. Not cool, not cool at all.
-Favorites: Again, what the BLEEP? So convoluted and not intuitive.
-Moss's "Push 2" integration is remedial at best. I appreciate the effort, but it's nothing compared (I guess obviously) to Live.
And that orange, ewwwwwww. Barf, gag me with a spoon (how many are old enough to remember that? ) I like the dark, but even it's not as appealing as Lives "dark".
I'm sure if I'd have given it the full demo, I could have figured out the "how to's" but why? Live already does that. Uninstalled (with the excellent revo uninstaller) and won't be missed.
Again, I'll live (see what I did there? ) with Live's imprefections. It's glorious with what I REALLY want. I'm pretty handy with DAW's, I can figure it out quickly. If it's not floating my boat, who cares? I couldn't even vibe with it. Live, despite it's drawbacks, I VIBE WITH IT!

I admit, a cut/split tool might be useful (I don't need it), but Live's MIDI editor is my favorite as is. If you're new to it, give the manual a thorough read. Methodologies are a bit different, but once you're used to it, it's very fast. But to each their own.

It's not necessary, I'm just surprised it's not there.
Still lovin' Live though. Only thing I'm upset about is that when I bought suite/Push 2 I was supposed to get 6 months to pay it off. They charged me everything

Bummer about the all-at-once and CTRL-e would be nice just for the sake of consistency. I love Live and I've become efficient with it, but there are inconsistencies, particularly in methodology, throughout.

I like Ableton's piano roll.chris harbin wrote: ↑Sun Mar 26, 2023 12:40 pmWhat is the deal with being so behind with midi editing? Not even a split notes/cut tool? I've gotta pony up coin to buy a MFL add-on just to do that (I don't like wrappers if at all possible)
Don't get me wrong, I'm happy and I can work around it, but unless I'm missing something, it's so behind. It's just really surprising.
I came from DAWS that had decent Piano Rolls (Sonar).
Other ones I used improved their workflow a good bit (Reason, Reaper). And other ones were always known for being good (FL Studio).
I think Ableton knows their piano Roll is lacking in some areas but I think they are carefully thinking at how to improve it, as I think too drastic of a change would piss off a bunch of old users who become used to Ableton's workflow. As me for example when I tried to use all of these other DAWS "great" piano rolls, my productivity decreases as some seem too different from what I am used to
That said some features like a cut key command similar to audio editor seems like a no Brainer. I'm guessing after one or two major versions there won't be much else to improve but the piano roll so I think it is in the pipeline.
Another cool feature would be to allow M4L to create midi tools so to speak and you could add custom tools to the piano roll. That would go a whole lot and help reduce bloat for those that don't need it but allow the ones who need those features to have it.

But a simple split, seems like it's not asking much.

Re: I'm LOVIN' Live, but.........
Yes.
I think that would be a "No Brainer" as it would just be a key command and wouldn't need a new button vs something like a chord tool, which would take a good deal of thought.
