Creating this topic for the sake of History.
It's a great 'little' synth, isn't it ?

But should we really call it THE Drift, like it's already a classic?
History will tell

Definitely the Drift for me.
Let's see this topic in 10 years.

Meh, 2 oscillators..............
I KID! Sounds great in the demos, not sure about the public beta right now. Wish I could see more release notes first.

Thanks! Whew, it's large.......
Does this install on it's own, or does it overwrite 11.2.11?

It better not have 'return to zero' envelopes like so many soft synths even those trying to replicate analogue synths. This is where the envelope on every new note starts from zero instead of continuing where the last note left it. It's fine as an option but it should never be the default behaviour.

Just did a test with a long release, attack seems to pickup from current release, not 0.
Drift is great, surprised at how easy it is to dial nice sounds, not only "analog", it is giving me FM sound ideas to develop further in Operator, giving me ideas for the OSC FX in Wavetable too.
Just checking Drift's parts has been lots of fun, seeing how the oscs had some nice harmonic distortion and noise-simulation, then noting how just rising the gain adds further harmonics by driving the filter, noticing the LFO has envelope modes, going like "hey what this slider under Mono, ooooh nice!", etc...
Some naysayers claim there is nothing new in Drift, but it is not only " revolutionary" or " groundbreaking" stuff that becomes a classic, stuff that is simply fun and well-done become classics due to lots of people using it and creating classic sounds on them, and Drift is very fun, very well done, and has lots of character, I think it will be widely used and can become a classic.
Live Lite became a really nice beginner package, they can learn synthesis in the Learning Synths site then load the exported synth directly in Lite, Drift is just fun which is always the best incentive, and post-9.5 Simpler and Drum Racks are very powerful tools for sample-based music.

Excellent. I am looking forward to trying it out.

Been exploring Drift, and , well, meh. Steppy filter too. There's something stagnant about Ableton releasing a virtual analogue synth in 2023, while Bitwig has all that cool spectral split stuff, and inbuilt device fx chains.

Really. I just ran a test, and well, I can't hear it. Is it just me ?
