native autotune plugin

This is an e-mail I sent to Ableton explaining a feature I'd like to see be added to Ableton Live:

Hi!

I would like to suggest a feature that would greatly improve Ableton Live.

Ableton's complex pro algorithm is very good for editing the pitch of vocal samples and vocal samples the pitches of which have been modified with the complex pro algorithm sound very natural even if they have been transposed by several semitones. Could you perhaps make a native ableton autotune plugin for editing all vocal samples, especially singing? The user interface of the native autotune plugin in Ableton could be similar to that of, for example, Melodyne.

BR,
Ville Rantanen

Yes! (Other DAWs such as Logic, FL, MPC, etc. have been including their own similar Hard Tune EFX for a while. Perhaps they could create a similar thing and include it?)

I bought Autotune VST at home,

but the question remains - what is the best vocal "hard tune" solution that currently runs on Push 3 standalone? Which I have preordered!
(I think there are some simple effects of this type already created in M4L?)

They made an M4L Autotuna plugin but its latency is too high for realtime use so I hardly use it.

I am all in for native autotune and basic manual vocal pitch correction. I think this has been requested ~1000 times already here :D
But it has to be a real Ableton Live stock plugin/function coded by professionals for performance and quality and not a M4L thing.

I.m.o. problem with many (not all) M4L plugins like autotuna is, that they often are not really polished, not thoroughly tested, not give good results, are not really maintained. Also they can introduce latency if they have to process audio data in real-time.

It makes sense.
Besides the complex pro algorithm, the tuner device can recognize pitches.

I guess it would be straightforward to gather what already is there in one (essential) device.

^ You are right, it's an important feature in today's music, and should be optimized, and included in a DAW / Device of this premium price!

Note that MPC now has such a thing, and even SP404 mk II includes vocal hard tune as an input effect.

(I often use Roland VT4 for this purpose at shows currently.)

So finally Ableton included its own native autotune - https://blog.abletondrummer.com/how-to- ... eton-live/ - looks like you haven't been the only one requesting an option for autotune for Ableton Live. :D

It's wonderful that they made it! - People asking for things really IS worthwhile, sometimes the companies do hear our requests. :D
