2) Laptop/Desktop? Make/Model - Apple Intel Core Duo 15"
3) Operating System - OSX 10.4.5
4) CPU Make Model and Speed - 2 ghz Toshiba
5) Amount of Ram / Speed of Ram (if you know) - 1 GB / DDR2 SDRAM
6) Soundcard (Stock or add on?, usb/firewire/pci ?) - RME Fireface

I think that was run with the 5.2 beta but...is that the universal binary version ? Because I thought I read intel mac users will have to pay for the universal binary or is it included free in the beta ?

Ok i understand now that there is an option:-

"On Windows and OS X (Power-PC) you can unlock this beta with your
Live 5 serial number."

"On OS X (Intel) or if you do not own Live 5 you can unlock this beta version
using the beta serial number provided on the beta website."

So i am assuming that test was done with the OS X (Intel) beta ?

i cant handle the stupidity, i truly cant.

i'm running the beta right now, i'm getting anywhere between 27-43 percent.

REMINDER to the retarded: this is functioning under 1 core, yes 1 core, meaning 2.0ghz of a processor. so, go buy yourself a 2.0 single core cpu and it will run around the same speed, prob slower considering the other upgrades to the yonah.

the chip is a DUEL CORE. macbooks have an entire core sitting there picking its ass.

until 6.0 comes out macbook customers will only be happy they are on pace with current pc's.

Oh you poor thing being so intelligent what a burden it must be looking down on all of us poor thickos, my heart bleeds..

anyhow thankyou for pointing that out - Logic Pro does (Dual) does indeed show a performance boost x4.

I shall look forward to Live 6 - in the meantime I am very happy.

Anyone for a dose of humility?

How come the Imacs are getting such better results than the Macbook Pro's? Are you sure there isn't a powersave featuring that you haven't disabled yet?

Is Live 5.2b4 Using One Core Only?

Post by aueua » Thu Mar 02, 2006 5:18 pm

Render To Disk Test :

1) Activity Viewer CPU Meter % - 100.6% (one core is 100%!)
2) Laptop/Desktop? Make/Model - Laptop Apple MacBook Pro
3) Operating System - OSX 10.4.5
4) CPU Make Model and Speed - Intel Core Duo 2.0 GHz
5) Amount of Ram / Speed of Ram (if you know) - 1024MB / DDR2-667
6) Soundcard (Stock or add on?, usb/firewire/pci ?) - M-Audio Ozonic Firewire
7) Hard Disk Drive Speed (if you know) - 7200rpm

iTunes mp3 encoding of the rendered 50 min AIFF stereo 16 bit 44.1 KHz track:

1) Activity Viewer CPU Meter % - 172.8% (one core is 100%!)

Looks like Live is using one core only!

Cheers!
