Can I get VST's Midi output to trigger another Midi input?
Can I get VST's Midi output to trigger another Midi input?
Hey all,
Can't figure this out. Wondering if its possible in ABE:
I want to grab the MIDI OUTPUT from a VST plugin in realtime and use it to trigger another Tracks' MIDI INPUT.
Is this possible? How do I go about routing this?
Cheers

In the input-routing menu of the receiving channel (MIDI FROM) select the plugin of the source (VST) channel in both fields.
Not all VST plugins can send midi. Which one do you use?

Thanks mate.
SCALER plugin.
I have both working together and triggering 1 VSTi now but still problem.
I know how I can disable a selected input range of notes from Midi Keyboard but...
Basically, I only want the MIDI OUT from SCALER (but not the input notes) to pass through to MELODIC-FLOW (another midi vst).
But the way I’m setup here is not blocking 1st midi track to MELODIC-FLOW.
I’m getting closer but still not quite there. Any help?

Re: Can I get VST's Midi output to trigger another Midi input?
The input notes are completely processed by the plugin and sent to the midi out. There is no parallel unprocessed way within the track.Basically, I only want the MIDI OUT from SCALER (but not the input notes) to pass through to MELODIC-FLOW (another midi vst).
The MELODIC-FLOW track input should be set to 2 scaler midi. Then you get only the MIDI OUT from SCALER.But the way I’m setup here is not blocking 1st midi track to MELODIC-FLOW.

Thanks but I also want to play live improv on the upper half (right hand) of keyboard while playing the Chords (Scaler output) on Left hand. The MELODIC-FLOW track input should be set to 2 scaler midi. Then you get only the MIDI OUT from SCALER.
Wouldn't above suggestion disable that? (will try later anyway)

Re: Can I get VST's Midi output to trigger another Midi input?
For keyboard split you should consider using a midi effect rack with chains with different keyzones.but I also want to play live improv on the upper half (right hand) of keyboard while playing the Chords (Scaler output) on Left hand.
From there you can send the midi to the tracks you want to.

Hmmm Must look into that. Thanks again.
