Push 3 - USB C Power
Push 3 - USB C Power
A quick one - my Push 3 controller version arrived and it seems to me as though it will only power on with the wall art plugged in. Am I doing something daft here or does this confirm that Push 3 (controller version at least) will not run off USB C like prior Push versions?
Could have sworn I had seen someone say it would power via just a cable...

Re: Push 3 - USB C Power
Make sure it’s plugged in to an actual usb 3.x port
Re: Push 3 - USB C Power
It’s def the right port as all 3 on the M2 2022 MBPs are 3.X.
Maybe it’sa cable and/or MBP power brick I’m using? The cable Ableton supplied in the box appears to be a dud and doesn’t work at all - even with other devices.

Same here with M1 2021 MacBook.
Re: Push 3 - USB C Power
I don't know no the details (it depends on the OS? the usb port type on your computer? etc), but it never worked for me neither.

I believe it was the Sonic State review where Jesse said this isn’t currently working but coming soon.

Re: Push 3 - USB C Power
The OP mentions not being able to power by USB-C. Can you power by USB-C and just not charge?
Can I also ask others who are able to power to chime in on this? Does it fully power the screen brightness? Does it charge if you have standalone?

A lot of folks over on Elektronauts have chimed in on this.Cloth Ears wrote: ↑Sat May 27, 2023 9:24 amThe OP mentions not being able to power by USB-C. Can you power by USB-C and just not charge?

It’s def been possible to power the controller via USB C only with reports of some dimming of screen/pads. Someone mentioned it not being as big a drop in brightness as you got with Push 1&2.
Standalone users have reported very slow battery charging over USB C only so looks like this is possible too.
I’m still waiting to hear back from Ableton with my problem. I’m going to double check OS versions and things. If possible to factory reset a controller version of Push then may as well try that too I guess. Likely Tech Supper will suggest it anyway!
Re: Push 3 - USB C Power
This is very surprising. The brightness should be exactly the same no matter if the unit is powered by the power adaptor or the battery.

Just what I wanted to know jur and J0n35y, thanks for the responses.
Having been too slow and indecisive on launch day with some queries about the controller, I missed the UK stock. However the Standalone was/is still showing stock so I bit the bullet after wrestling with my concience and am hoping that one will get sent next week.

Re: Push 3 - USB C Power
Ah but I’m talking the controller version when on usb power only with no DC plugged in not standalone with its internal battery. I’m sure standalone will be fine
