Push 3 standalone midi clock

I wondered if anyone had any tips for using an external clock (from an octatrack mk2) or for stabilising the midi clock from the push 3 in standalone mode?
Im using a few elektron devices, ive tried midi cables and usb from the push but the clock just moves around by about 1bpm all the time. Its not a huge amount but its no where near stable. Has anyone synced the p3 up reliably to external gear?
