Auto bass in real time from audio (guitar)?

I would like to be able to have Live to play an octave lower note - audio or MIDI (better), while I play a note on the acoustic guitar in fingerpicking,
but only if the frequency - or the note (better) of the audio input is within a certain range.
In fact, I'm trying to find a way to "create" a sort of an "auto bass line generator" from the lower notes I play on a guitar arpeggio, working in realtime and not just offline or over a recorded track: how would you tackle this task in Live Suite 11?
