Only just found this thread but I had exactly the same issue within 24 hours of using the Push 3 controller version.

Ordered mine the day it was released, got it the next day and within about 4 hours of using it I noticed instruments suddenly going crazy and out of key. I thought it was a VST at first but then noticed the pitch bend on the Push 3 going crazy:

https://www.dropbox.com/s/0kbvp8w98v0x8 ... m.mov?dl=0

I contacted Ableton straight away about it, letting them know the issue along with the video above and they got back quite quickly. They initially wanted me to do a reset on the Push linking to this article:

https://help.ableton.com/hc/en-us/artic ... set-Push-3

Which would be great if I had the standalone but the controller version doesn't have this 'Software' tab so couldn't do that. Next thing they wanted me to do was try it with both the PSU connected and then disconnected, this didn't seem to make any difference.

I did however swap it for a different outlet and as yet, I haven't had the issue reoccur. Now I'm not sure if this is a coincidence or whether this has helped but the problem hasn't happened since. The issue happened for the first 3 days of using it but after that I haven't had an issue. I also have the Push angled on a stand now which may/may not help but I haven't had the problem occur at all this week.

The finger hovering thing I mentioned in my previous post is also of interest to me, in terms of giving clues about underlying cause. I have since discovered that I can simulate a hovering finger to fix the issue by placing a usb c charging cable, plugged intot he mains, in that area of the touchstrip. The rest of the touch strip then behaves normally, although its probably easier just to reboot given that the problem doesnt tend to reoccur for me if I leave the device on after the first failure of the day.
Funnily enough I see something similar. I don't need anything plugged in, though, I can just hover the metal of an audio jack adapter over the top of the strip. That's enough to make it stop!

Thanks for the further reports on what works to alleviate the issue.

Mumbles something about relative permittivity, these fixes probably arent that surprising really given the nature of the sensing mechanism they are likely using.

Ah yes I've now tried a headphone adaptor resting in that area and it works, as does a cigarette lighter.

That was my thought. Touchstrip isn’t grounding properly.

Hopefully they can adjust it in firmware, otherwise they'l have to rename it the dont need to touch strip.

Correct, at the moment you can adjust the pitch strip even when your finger is a few mm over it and not touching it.

A bit OT but fits nevertheless, how do I delete pb data per step on p3 stand alone?

Probably better to start a new thread for questions like that.

I had it again last evening.

Two things.

1. if i touch the case of Push with my finger in the region of the Touchstrip it gets less and less if you come closer to the touchstrip.
If i touch it the case on the right side of Tempo Knob it stops juming arround
2. As i switched to a Drumtrack. it stops Jumping. If i go back to a melody part. It stays in the sero position. As soon as i touched a MPE Pad.. it starts again freaking out.

I have a question and something to try for everyone having the issue:

1. Does this still occur if the push is unplugged and only running off of battery? If so, I would think it wouldn't be a grounding problem.

2. If it does NOT happen in battery mode, maybe you could try a ground lift to see if it goes away?

To be 100% you could unplug any audio cables and try it with just headphones plugged in. Just for completeness. So far my touch strip has behaved itself. Now to stop the crashes when you've worked on your track and not saved for a bit :)
