P3: some function buttons are crooked/slanted in the unit? (with photo)

That's not the biggest problem in the world, but it's a bit strange for a device in this price range. It also feels haptically confusing (and a bit shabby).

Some buttons stick out of the device on one side (as they should) and on the other side they disappear into the device and are below the surface. See photo: Here, for example, the left side of the "Note Mode" button is below the surface and the right side is sticking out normally as expected. With the arrow buttons (above) it is similar, but not quite as extreme as with the Note Mode button.

In addition, the play button squeaks and rubs against the housing when I press it.

Is this also the case with your P3 (standalone)?

That photo made me feel around my push like i was looking for hidden braille. Im happy to say my push buttons are all lined up like you'd hope for, level and straight.

Any chance yours could be manipulated into sitting right? Good luck

I looked around my Push 3 and indeed many buttons are slightly tilted and slightly misaligned from the holes.

my jog wheel was leaning and the lower end was rubbing against the case while spinning the wheel. I was able to straighten it out with a little force on the higher side.

Mine has the same problem with the group of buttons which contains scale and layout. It's lowered exactly the same way.

I guess we need to wait for someone to tell us how this will be sorted out or if the return is the only option.

@jiggle:
Many thanks for looking. No, unfortunately I don’t see any chance, because th buttons sit relatively fixed in their position. However, I have noticed that the case can be pushed down almost a millimetre (0.04 inch) at one point: left edge, between the Note Mode button and the left arrow. So the case is loose at this point. Perhaps a screw was forgotten here to secure the circuit board?

@FlipBit:
Thanks to you, too. Is this as extreme for you as it is for me? Are some parts of the buttons also below the surface of the device? If the buttons were only slightly slanted (and still above the casing), it wouldn't bother me so much. But in my case it's often the case that I try to press on the case instead of the buttons, because the case is higher in some places. That's a bit annoying.

@projexo:
Hm thats bad. And how do the function buttons look on your device? Do they look the same as mine (especially the Note Mode button)?

@resequenced:
Thanks for the information. It is interesting that apparently on some devices the buttons are fine - and on others they are not. Perhaps it is due to the batch (different production period)? As I wrote above, the casing of my device seems to be loose at this point. I think this can only be repaired by an authorised technician, as you would have to open the entire device - and as a private person you would lose the warranty (in case my assumption is correct that the circuit board does not have a proper hold at this point).

Indeed, I was wondering what Ableton would advise us to do.

Thank you very much for the information! Then the problem with my device seems to be more extreme than average.

I have now contacted the technical support. I hope that I will get an answer. My previous queries (about my defective device) have been ignored so far - for a week now. Very disappointing…

Live with it or send it back if it annoys you every single day!

I would RMA. For the price point, you should be receiving a device in mint. Get that exchanged.

That's absolutely right. This isn't some boutique synth manufacturer selling their first product for 200-300 dollars or euros. It's a very expensive product.
