Push 3 Standalone: Tempo Nudge

Post by LordMeowmers » Thu Aug 03, 2023 6:39 pm

Does anyone know how to do a tempo nudge in Push 3 standalone?

My use case is that I'm using the Push 3 as a drum machine that needs to be manually beatmatch to turntables/CD-J's. I know I can use the tempo slider to temporarily speed up/slow down like an old school DJ would, but I was hoping there would be some buttons/interface to map this functionality to. I have been looking online for an answer to this, but I can't find any information that's relevant. Anyone have any ideas?

Thanks in advance!

This functionality is not in Live Standalone currently.

+1 for that requirement.
Can the nudge SW buttons be mapped to an external controller maybe?

This seems super useful for standalone.

I'm not using tempo nudge, but I just came across this post and this is a quick one to do in M4L.
Give me an hour and I'll post the device.

Here you go.

Due to a P3/M4L bug, you need to use the current Live 11 and Push 3 beta minimum (L11.3.20bx), and/or the current Live 12 beta.

Works perfect on my Push 3 standalone, thank you so much!

Update : 1. Look like the Init isn't working. 2. On the Push 3 it is labeled as 'init.init'

Are you using the beta version of P3, or the release one?
I was only able to test on the beta one as I don't want to switch back to the release firmware.

Why? Did you come across a situation where you needed to init it?

Yeah, just ignore, that's an annoying M4L buttons thing.

1. My thoughts about 'init' was when after a nudge up, it would go to the original tempo before the nudge was used.
2. I just ignore :)

I'm really happy with this, so please do not think I'm not grateful.

You didn't read the provided infos file
The tempo goes back to its initial value as soon as you release the nudge.

You're right, I was too excited to use the app and not reading the info ;) The info file answers my questions. Thanks!

This sounds great. Going to download and try tomorrow. I’ve been looking for a way to mix push 3 standalone and cdj’s.
Cheers.
