Push 3 audio outputs dead?

Post by ezilybored » Sun Aug 13, 2023 1:42 pm

Push 3 has been going mostly great so far.

Had one audio drop out before now. Came back after restarting Ableton and Push.

Now it’s totally dead. Master bus is registering audio playing. Headphones (plugged into Push) still get a signal. Tried removing Push and plugging my minifuse back in with the same speakers and got audio (so it’s not the speakers).

Any suggestions?

I have raised a ticket. Hoping it’s not a back to factory issue.

I have exactly the same problem. Headphone output works perfect, but no output at all from the 2 audio outputs. I already did a factory reset, but makes no difference. Will also raise a ticket. Feel very sad about this.

Maybe somebody has advice? I'm a beginner, so It is possible I overlook something.

Yeah I was hoping someone could maybe suggest a setting might have accidentally changed. Not heard anything yet

I have the feeling it's a hardware failure, the 2 audio outputs are completely dead.

btw....which firmware version do you use? I tried 1.1.1 and also beta 5

I’m worried it is too.

Just tried some other monitor speakers I use for an electric drum kit and they didn’t work either.

I’m not sure what else to try.

Firmware is the latest version it updated to when I got it (2 weeks back) I haven’t tried the beta.

I tried all what is possible, even 15 minutes ago I did a factory reset and updated firmware to 1.1.2. But the audio outputs are dead.

I also opened a ticket a week ago, just after receiving my Push 3. I had the feeling that it was used before, because after the 1st boot it asked me if I want to save the project that was opened. Normally you will get the welcome screen.

So maybe my Push was used before and the previous owner did return it because of the failing audio outputs. Support told me that it was brand new, but I have doubts about that.

I hope Ableton support will reply fast and comes with a good solution.

Out of interest. Are you using Mac or PC?

PC, Windows 11

Did you get the Welcome setup screen after you booted the Push for the 1st time?

Interesting what you say about wondering if it was a returned Push. I also had slight worries about that. Seeing how many reviewer copies were sent out and then returned I was mildly worried I would get one that had already gone out and come back.

I don’t remember a welcome screen. Mine is controller only. I got prompted to update the firmware. It did this twice I think.

Just trying it with my sons laptop. Installing Ableton on there and going to plug the Push in to see what happens.

Well this has me absolutely stumped.

Just connected to my sons laptop. Works fine. Sound coming out of the speakers.

Any suggestions what the hell I have changed on my laptop?

That's very strange, but lucky you! Windows or Mac?

Mac.

Moved back to my laptop. Nothing. Not working again.

Tried a full uninstall and reinstall. Nothing. Just lost all of my saved templates 🤣😭

I’m guessing it’s something to do with the settings in my laptop now. The sound options are pretty limited in osx and nothing looks wrong.

Have you got another PC you could install Ableton on to check your Push?

No worries. Was trying to think of other ways to test whether it is the Push or laptop settings.

I figured out my issue and it is bloody stupid. Of me and the system. Not sure if Windows does anything so nuts too.

While I was working yesterday I must have switched my laptop over to use the push when I watched a YouTube video. I muted the video with the keyboard mute key then switched my laptop back to using the built in speakers for streaming videos. This must have then also muted the push. I solved it by switching the laptop over to use the push as its speakers. Hit the mute key again. Switched laptop back to using internal speakers and the push just to Ableton and the sound was back out of my speakers.

Such a combination of stupid system that would allow that to happen and stupid user who managed to orchestrate a situation where that happened in the first place.

Could a similar thing have happened with yours?
