'places' not updating

hi all.
does anyone know if there is a pref or cache file that controls the places info?
i've added some folders but they are showing the old file / folder structure from months ago and however long i leave live open for to update / scan it just stays the same.
any ideas how to force live to reset or clear that info/data?
