Im producing music for the club and I was wondering audio effects should I use and what I shouldnt use.
Is phaser/flanger/chorus are ok?
Are ther any other effects that might cause phase issue when collapsin stereo into mono?
Thank you
Mono competability
Re: Mono competability
In general I think you just need to be careful with stereo widening plug ins, those seem to cause the most issues in my experience. And that’s not to say you can’t use them, but be subtle and don’t use it on everything. I get a lot of tracks sent to me for mastering where you can tell the producer worked entirely in headphones and threw a widener on the whole mix. There’s nothing in the center of the mix and everything disappears in mono.
Which brings me to my next tip, just check your mix in mono every now and then for a reality check.
