Stop marketing Live as an on-stage DJ tool; market it as a DAW that's stable enough to be used live. Also, it would be nice if it made real use out of both processors in the PowerMacs.

I am a DJ...a real one that uses turntables and records! How's your scratching and beat juggling doing with Live?

Whoa...saying that means that YOU'RE the one who doesn't know shit about DJing. As soon as a product like Live can be seamlessly integrated into a real turntable set, I'll be the first one to use it! Now, answer my question, how's your scratching and beat juggling doing in Live?

By the way, I could use Live to do sets of house music, any child with 2 hours of practice could, it's just that it can't be used with hip-hop. Also, girls don't jock DJ's that are just sitting there playing with a computer!

Don't get me wrong; with a little improvement I think Live could soon be one of the best DAWs on the market.

read the manual and you use a little more imagination (specially the plugins chapter)

if you allow me, I can recommend some changes that I actually use

2 Numark TTX Turntables > 2 technics sl1200MK5
Ecler HAK360 Mixer > allen & heath xone 92 "rotary"
Final Scratch 2 > serato scratch live

Ok, lets see...

1) I've used Technics 1200s for years and the Numark TXX is much better, in my opinion.
2) The fader on the Xone 92 is shit compared to the Ecler faders.
3) Serato Scratch live didn't work for me as well as Final Scratch 2 does; also FS2 runs 192k and, when recording, sounds much better.

Please, pray tell, let me know how to seamlessly go from cutting up a record on the tables to doing something in Live and then going back to the tables to scratch in the next track, while staying in time with the mix...in a live, spontaneous, unrehearsed situation. Believe me, I'm open to the vision. Until the vision becomes a reality, I'm sticking to my decks. Again, with house music this is all not a problem for obvious reasons. I think, for house music, one would be better off using Live instead of turntables simply because it makes more sense; with hip-hop that's never work. What kind of music do you spin? Do you use 1200s and the Xone 92?

I tend to agree with you. I used to think Live was a great tool for Dj work but after using it I went back to vinyl. BUt I did integrate Live as a third deck so I use it with vinyl now. The marketing as a DJ tool is up to Ableton but I think this is trying to make it all things to all people. For an artist playin his own music live then it just the ticket. As a dj tool on its own I think there are better solutions.
