is this possible? suppose you have 10 different loops and you want to experiment with fading in more than one at a time...can you do that with a keyhit? in max/msp, you could click (or use a keyhit), and having midi assigned to volume, go from 0 to 127, even specifying the speed of the fade.

for example, if i want to fade in loops 1,2, and 3 at the same time. this is hard to do by hand. another possiblity would be to control more than one volume at a time (link sliders). if one could link the first three sliders, and just switch loops, that would probably work as well...but i don't know if this is possible.

anyone with suggestions, ideas, other comments?

this is a somewhat less conventional way of using Live, so bare with me....

what you could do is route everything you want to fade to a new audio channel. and use a dummy clip to do the fade.

that is to say, if the new channel is Track 12, send the Output of your intended fade tracks to Track 12. Set the Monitor on Track 12 to "IN" (or if in Live 4 "ON").

Since the Monitor is set to "IN" on Track 12, any audio clips within that track will not be heard, only other inputted channels will be played through Track 12. However, the ENVELOPE AUTOMATION of any audio clips in Track 12 will indeed be played. (Such as a Volume Fade automation)

Now, take any Audio file, doesn't matter which audio clip. Just make sure its long enough to be able to play back the Volume Fade automation. If its not, adjust the Warp Markers to the length you want the fade to be (4 bars for instance). This clip will be refered to as your "dummy clip".

Now draw in your Volume Fade in the dummy clip.

Assign a computer keyboard key to the trigger of that dummy clip.
When you hit the key, the fade will begin.
If you want total silence after the fade, copy your dummy clip to make a 2nd dummy clip with another Volume automation. This time, instead of a fade, just totally mute the Volume Envelope.

Use a follow action to make the Mute dummy clip start (and loop) right after the fade is over.

Repeat the process using Volume Envelopes in new clips for Fade Ins, and "Full Volume" clips (dummy clips with no Automation, they just allow the Audio to pass through normally)

howdy folks! i was wondering if anyone knows if this can be done yet. i would like to be able to have the option of different types of fade ins and fade outs. i can use the automation envelope, but still that doesn't quite automate the process. the closest solution is Adam Jay's from awhile back, but i'm still wondering whether that kind of thing could have been implemented into some kind of scene or rack. let me know if anyone has figured this out. also, linking sliders (let's say, linking the first three sliders) would also be helpful. thanks for reading!
