Is there a way to create and record fixed length clips without a Push or Launchpad? Can I create track where every clip I record on it in session view will automatically be 2 bars? This seems so basic. I want to create a template where every new clip with be a fixed length. What am I missing?

There's M4L devices. ClyphX can surely do this too.
If you're recording only midi clips, you could prepare 2 bar longs empty midi clips and overdub into them.
There's probably other tricks, but that's just what comes to mind quickly.
