I'd love to see Instrument Definition file implementation whereby I can, using an instrument definition file (*.ins) load a list of patchnames that match my various synths so I can call up various patches right from the DAW. Sonar does it. (viewtopic.php?p=1819371&hilit=sysex#p1819371)
ALSO coming from Sonar, I'd also like to see recording SYSEX data in REALTIME, just as one would record a CC data stream on a track. My Roland Juno 106 sends SYSEX data anytime a slider is moved thus we can change all the basic patch parameters REALTIME in the midi stream. Sonar records this data with no problem in my tracks and plays the slider changes back sending a SYSEX data stream of slider movements back to my Juno just like I played them.
Sure wish Ableton would pick up both of these functionalities. Sonar has them!
These 2 additions in functionality would bring in a lot of Hardware Synth functionality. I like Ableton's interface better and its effects workflow better. But I'm really missing these 2 critical components.
