Ableton rendering file limitations

Post by sefable » Sat Dec 30, 2023 3:15 pm

Hello,

I have the requirement of rendering 10+ hours of audio using Ableton.

When I try to export in 96000 Hz, Ableton says "Live only supports rendering temporary files of less than 21093 MB".

When I try to export in 48000 Hz, Ableton says "Live only supports rendering temporary files of less than 10546 MB".

Putting aside the somewhat arbitrary looking limitations, is there any hope in being able to render very long audio in Ableton?

I have tried in Bitwig and it is working just fine.

I would like to keep using Ableton, without using workarounds such as splitting renderings.

Thank you in advance

I don't know the answer, sorry.
Just curious about something though: are you on win or mac?

Windows 10, I should have mentioned it indeed.

I never tried that tbh!
You should definitely ask Support about this.

Using Bitwig I have been doing recordings of more than 11 hours both in real-time in an audio clip and by rendering. Producing only one audio file.

So it is not a limitation of windows.

Until 11 Live had a file size limit.

https://help.ableton.com/hc/en-us/artic ... size-limit

That limit was removed in Live 12.

https://www.ableton.com/en/release-notes/live-12-beta/
Live can now import and export audio files greater than 4 GB (such as .bwf and .rf64 files) by using the ITU Broadcast Wave file format. Please note, however, that Live does not support Sony Digital Pictures Wave64 files, which have the extension .w64.
