Is there a fade applied to the yellow Track Activation button ( "mute" button)

Hi I'm wondering if there is a small linear fade applied to the track when the yellow button is pressed to mute a track?

I'm pretty sure that is what is happening under the hood. Is there a way to change the shape or duration of the fade?

or is there a way to trigger a volume automation for a track so the audio is not cut off too abruptly that it creates click and pops.
