Chained drum hits - creating loops in AL 10/11/12

As in this video of Overmono (timestamp 2:20 onward) they have some kind of M4L/macro device which seems to offer (via midi mapper faderfox controllers):
  • scrolling through an audio track (forward/backward)
  • adjusting the length of the loop
  • not sure how to call it, but it appears the loop can be synced / repeated rhythmically
  • Overmono even replied to a question about this themselves on YouTube, but it’s still a bit of a cryptic equation to solve: “this was using stacks of arpeggiators chained together all with different rates effecting each other so they would start cutting into each other's rhythms. but we've been using Reaktor instead recently.”
Would this be possible to achieve in a simple way in live? Perhaps some kind of macro setting connected to simpler/sampler?

In extension to this how could this be synced to the track bpm in terms of the actual loop? I understand Live 12 has some kind of “humanization” and randomness controls for midi clips, to create new rhythms, could this also be combined? I’m on v10 but just purchased the v12 upgrade so am flexible in terms of doing this in v10 & v11 until v12 is released.

Thanks for your input!
