Gain with bipolar modulation

Post by sefable » Mon Feb 19, 2024 8:22 pm

Hello,

I am looking for a maxmsp audio effect device that allows adjusting the gain.

I know there is "Utility" for it but the modulation for "Gain" is not bipolar, it is unipolar negative (100% -> 0%).

The only other audio effect I could find is EQ8, which has a "Gain" parameter with bipolar modulation (50% -> -50%).

Unfortunately, the Gain of EQ8 does not show visually the modulation being applied like "Utility/Gain" does with the filled blue line over the black progress line.

And using EQ8 seems too heavy just to control the gain.

Thanks in advance

What are you modulating it with?
Can you be more detailed about what you're trying to achieve exactly?

Thanks for the help.

I am using modulation envelopes inside MIDI clips.

My goal is to modulate gain just like the "Gain" parameter of EQ8 (-50% / 50%),

but without using EQ8 to save CPU resources

and ideally with a visualization of the modulation (just like Gain in Utility, which shows in Blue the modulation).
