Ableton Live Freezes Occasionally During Performance

Hi,

I've recently started using Ableton for Live performance and have been very happy with stability overall, but occasionally (it's happened maybe 3 times over about a month of using it twice a week) it just freezes up while I'm playing my keyboard. The audio will drop for about 5 seconds and when I glance at Ableton, all the levels are stuck where they were and the UI is just frozen. After a few seconds it will start working again, sometimes coming in choppy and behaving strangely for the first few seconds of working. The CPU meter generally runs around 30% and I use about 5-6 GB of memory for my set. As far as I can tell, there aren't spikes in the meters when this happens, but I haven't been able to verify that. I will mention that my computer storage is almost full (only about 9GB left), so that's the first thing I'm going to look into. But has anyone else experienced similar issues or have any ideas of what else I could try in order to diagnose the issue? I've included all the information I think might be helpful below, but if I've missed anything just let me know.

- Ableton Live 11 Intro (11.3.21 Build: 2024-01-22_5ac24cad7c)
- MacBook Pro M1 2020
- 16 GB Ram
- Ventura 13.6
- 512 GB storage (only 9GB left), also using 4 TB external drive
- Arturia Keylab 88 mkii
- Behringer UM2 audio interface
- Plugins: Keyscape, Kontakt, Analog Lab

This is a long shot... Do you happen to have a USB drive or other outboard memory plugged in?

I had a Samsung T7 4 TB external drive plugged in that some of my sounds were being run on. I also had I’ll USB plugged in.

I will say that I realized today that my external drive was formatted incorrectly (as exFat). So I reformatted it today and hope that might help. I also cleared a good amount of space on my MacBook’s hard drive in case that was affecting things.

I am having issues where Ableton 11 freezes constantly

Just opened it up there, dragged a midi file in, then opened up my Korg M1 - froze for about a min

Then I dragged an audio clip into an audio channel, it froze for a good 2 or 3 mins

Its gettin very annoying and Ableton want us to stump up £175 for Ableton 12? Nah , i dont think so.

Am i better going back to a previous version?

Your CPU won't run 12 most likéy anyway. L10 is the most polished in it's own sense.

Yeah, im more interested in 11 running properly.

Oh and i constantly have to disconect my Master keyboard ( (Launchkey49) and recontect it for ableton to recognise it.
