Can't hear audio

Post by yourkidsfather » Wed Mar 06, 2024 2:11 pm

Cheers guys,
I just bought the new Ableton 12, as I couldn't run my Ableton 9 on my new computer anymore.
I see that a lot of stuff changed.

I just tried to edit a audio file, but somehow it's greyed out and I can't listen to it. I setup the right audio interface / output.

Can anyone help please? Do I need to press any specific button? It drives me nuts lol.

Thanks so much.

Screenshot doesn’t show the bottom part of the screen but I bet there is an orange message saying that audio files couldn’t be open.
Search for them by clicking on the message.
Or collect and save the original set.

No, there is no orange message, that the audio file couldn't be open. The audio file is working.

What if you switch the input source as none ?

Kinda looks like the clip is deactivated. Select the Audio file and press 0 (zero) to toggle enable/disable

thanks so much bro, this was the issue. It's working now.
I don't know what's the benefits of activating audio files. I always muted them if I don't want to hear them.

Really appreciate your help, this issue was driving me nuts

I only knew this one because I use it ALL THE TIME. Usually when we do ad-libs on vocals or try and manually make a phrase or part repeat. So we deactivate audio files (usually smaller than yours is) to keep them in place without deleting, in case we want to use them after all. Muting the whole track would disable the ability to hear the edits
