I set up a dummy drum rack track based on my preferred MIDI map for the kit pieces. For example, I have kicks on E1, F1, F#1, and G1. To re-use this same map with any drum rack presets swapped into other tracks, I want to direct all those received MIDI notes to C1 of the non-dummy track, which is usually its kick. The dummy track’s I/O lets me set the notes E1-G1 in its Receive column, but its Play column won’t let me change it from C3 for any of the kit pieces. C3 is apparently the default, but when I click on it, no dropdown appears as it does for the Receive column. How do I enable this Play column? Is this the proper way to direct a device to output a specified MIDI note based on a received note?
I set up one track to receive another track’s MIDI, no problem. Am I misunderstanding that Play column? I can’t find it documented in the manual. I’ve read through section 15 "Routing and I/O," but this detail is not documented there.
