I wonder if Ableton are planning on selling a paper manual - that may explain why they arent offering a free pdf download !!
I just dont get the argument that support told me: "we currently do not plan to offer one because we do not have the resources to maintain both the online version and a PDF version.” That’s just nonsense !!! They dont have the resources to save text in different formats !!!
They told me EXACTLY the same when I asked for a Kindle version (the .pdfs aren't formated in a usable manner), which should be TRIVIAL to generate if they have the manual in some sort of document format, presumably Word or whatever is the macOS equivalent...
Ridiculous.

I have to agree. It's nice to have a PDF manual open alongside DAW software (e.g. Reaper, Cubase).
That way I can do DAW stuff while offline.
Maybe there's a way to save the online manual away for offline use?

Most pdf converters allow you to print a screen to pdf.
Probably not fun to do though as you would need to go page by page.

I am very disappointed that there will not be a PDF manual of Ableton Live 12.
I'm new to Ableton, and I use the pdf manual to learn the program on my ereader while commuting to work.
It can't be that hard to convert HTML to PDF? Or EPUB...
Please reconsider!

I agree the pdf is great when someone wants to learn about Ableton away from their PC and don't or can't be online.

Not good. Bring it back. Companies do this so they can edit it at will, or that used to be the excuse. With print to PDF, this shouldn't be an issue.

Not good news, as I much prefer having a local PDF so that I can access the info without needing to be online, and can also perform a search throughout the entire manual.
It does however seem to be a trend now, that people just go online to ask others how to do something, rather than read manuals/instructions.

I too REALLY want this back in PDF format. Making music on portable devices or my laptop away from the studio or wifi is something I do constantly. I get the appeal of an online version online, it's definitely easier to keep up to date. Taking web based manuals with graphics is not always dead simple to convert to PDF format. But that time would be soooo well spent for those of us who can't be online 24/7.

Just another vote saying I'd really like a PDF manual too. In case this is having any effect!

Ableton should include this in the online manual, regardless of whether a PDF manual exists. It's currently impossible to search the
whole online manual. The browser's search option only searches per chapter.

Another thought
- Ableton: “You can use the Push 3 standalone without having to use a computer”
- Also Ableton: “To read about how to use your Push 3 you need to use your computer connected to the internet”

Perhaps I am doing something wrong here but when I access the ONLINE Live 12 manual (either from the Help menu inside or Live 12 itself or via the direct links to the Live 12 manual on the Ableton website) I still seem to be looking at the Live 11 manual, not 12. Or is it that the current manual has not been updated to reflect the updates to the clip editor, devices, etc.? Anyone else experiencing this? Thx.

They had months to update the online manual, and the whole supposed purpose of an online manual is to have a document you can update on the fly.
