MPE-enable any sound to perform on Push 3

What's the workflow for taking any given sound, by which I mean an Ableton preset under Library/Sounds, and 'MPE-enabling' that sound in some way such that the various parameters of that sound could be performed on Push 3's pads?
'Broken Piano (multi-sampled).adg" has, for example, space, release and softness parameters (amongst others). How would you map those to Push 3's pad axes?
Is it a universal setting, some kind of wrapper around an instrument or rack, for example, or is it a setting specific to the MPE capabilities (or otherwise) of any given instrument?
Ideally the solution would apply to Push 3 standalone as much as controller.
