Unable to midi map Performer to external controller

Performer from the new Performance Pack does not respond to my midi devices when I attempt to map them -Sonoma (MacBook Pro M1).
I saw that others mentioned having problems in the original thread but got no response, so posting here. Any ideas? Thanks.

The mapping point is the number box (value) of the control, not the dial, slider or button.
