Hey fellow Ableton Live Users!

I have a problem with Ableton Live for quite some time now. The CPU Usage indicator is playing rope jumping with me. The CPU load jumps between at least 35% to over 100% within seconds even if I have nothing loaded. Just opening Ableton Live and the CPU indicator is going crazy. It gets worse when I use any kind of Plugin.. I mostly use Ableton to record my guitar through some NeuralDSP plugins yet I also use some stuff like Xfer Serum. Either way my sound starts to clip whenever it reaches the full CPU load or even exceeds it.

Im really lost to it. I upgraded my system two months ago. Since then I cannot seem to find an answer to solve this. Its just unbearable to this point.
Before I upgraded I used an i5-6600K, a GTX 1070 and 8GB of RAM. From this rather budget setup I upgraded to an i7-12700K, a RX7800 XT and 32GB of RAM. I never had any problems with my old setup and it never even exceeded 50% CPU load under any circumstances.

I tried everything that was already suggested through my researches: I updated all drivers and BIOS. I changed the settings for Speedstep in BIOS to disable it, I tried different versions of Ableton Live (11 and 12 Suite) and yet nothing seemed to help.

Hope anyone has a solution or hint to resolve this as this really demotivates me to use Ableton any longer cause the clipping drives me crazy.

The Ableton Live CPU meter is really the buffer utilization meter. What are your settings for sample rate and buffer size?

You can have almost zero CPU utilization (Task Manager) and high Ableton Live "CPU" (buffer) utilization if you're running an extremely low buffer size, like 32 samples.

Are you using WiFi or Bluetooth?

Any other programs running?

Run WhySoSlow or LatencyMon and post the results.
